WHAT IS THE SAP APPHAUS NETWORK?

Building upon a history of creative environments, the SAP AppHaus Network is a selection of “customer facing” co-innovation spaces in which customers, SAP, and end-users collaboratively work on projects by putting humans and their experiences first.

The mission of the SAP AppHaus Network is to create value from business data via the use of technologies like SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and methodologies like the Human-Centered Approach or design thinking.

BLUESTONEX'S APPHAUS SPACE

Bluestonex are an established AppHaus Member. We are one of two locations in the United Kingdom and part of the global network.

Based in a beautifully renovated old church, our first-floor space have offices and conference rooms whilst our design centre boasts a large open space that combines the styling of the old with a touch of the new, including a usability lab can be used to test prototypes following SAP’s Human-Centered Approach to Innovation. Bringing everything together into one amazing, collaborative design workspace where creativity flows!

Our design center is based in the quiet Shropshire market town of Oswestry- an area well known for outdoor team-building and creative thinking. Why not take a break from the hectic city work environment, and enjoy a relaxing drive through the historic Shropshire hills to reach our design centre. Leave all your stress behind and let the creativity flow in our design space.

We are blessed with local amenities in Shropshire and over the border in North Wales, meaning that there are bundles of outdoor activities for great team building events such as zip-lining, mountaineering, white water rafting and many more.

DESIGN THINKING WORKSHOPS

Design Thinking is a user-centred design methodology used primarily for problem-solving. It relies on empathy to understand the needs of the end-user or customer, resulting in innovative and effective solutions. Other methodologies often fall apart after initial deployment, when it is found that the solution addresses the symptoms, rather than the underlying cause of the problem. By talking to and understanding the end-users, we can gain a much better idea of the real problems faced on a day-to-day basis.

We run a variety of Design Thinking workshops in our AppHaus for different sized organisations both global and local to tackle today’s problems through the Apphaus methodology and our human centred design approach. We also run programmes with local Schools and Colleges (engaging with the business leaders of tomorrow) teaching our techniques, exploring fascinating idea’s and technology areas.

Our Design Thinking workshops employ a variety of tools to get the most out of a session. From Classic pen and paper to advanced psychology techniques, each tool has been hand picked by our UX experts to get to explore innovation opportunities and identify a problem. See more about the Design Thinking tools we use below.

MURAL

MURAL connects teams with a digital whiteboard and collaboration features designed to inspire innovation.

We use MURAL as a space to ideate and collaboratively brainstorm ideas in real time, giving us a shared understanding of the challenges at hand.

We also have experienced MURAL facilitators to run sessions with our customers, allowing us to visually communicate ideas, perform knowledge transfer, or just as an icebreaker.

Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop is our graphic design platform of choice and the industry standard. So much so, that it’s name has become a verb!

It allows our designers to create high fidelity prototypes, helping our customers to see their solution before it’s even built. Any comments, changes, or ideas can then be easily realised until we achieve the perfect “look and feel”.

SAP Business Application Studio

A modern development environment, tailored for efficient development of business applications for the Intelligent Enterprise.

We use SAP Business Application Studio to create clickable prototypes as well as the final build

Slide
invision

Invision is a tool that allows us to load up low fidelity hand drawn prototypes, or high fidelity prototypes created in Photoshop, and create navigation hotspots and add animation to the images to give companies an idea on how the application will work and the benefits it will bring.

Being able to visualise a working prototype like this can often lead to new ideas or functionality and prevents our customers from feeling out of the design loop.

Simple enterprise applications can be built rapidly.

Visually simple tools with visual drag and drop options.

No technical knowledge required to create simple enterprise applications.

Configuring automation processes & workflow is simplified.

Slide
PEN AND PAPER

You can't beat good old pen and paper when it comes to rapid prototyping.

Sketch up ideas there and then in the workshop and create visualisation of ideas in minutes.

We can load photos of these drawings into Invision to turn them into interactable prototypes.

Microsoft teams

Microsoft teams is the obvious choice when it comes to remote communication. We utilise Teams to run our remote design thinking workshops and engage with customers.

We also use Teams to run regular webinars on topics ranging from SAP MDG (flaws included) to Hyper Automation and Machine Learning.

Slide
LEGO SERIOUS PLAY

The Lego Serious Play method is used in the Explore and Discover phases of Design Thinking.

It's ideal for drawing out process issues and pains visually.

qualtrics

Capture the voices and opinions of the people who matter the most to the design.

Now users facial expressions can also be recorded to better highlight user issues.
